Yes... Saigon has it's own Subway Sandwich shop. For some people it's just another sandwich shop, but for others it was heaven sent. This shop is located in backpacker's row. The store front my be a little hidden from the street, but I promise it's there.

This Subway showcases what you'd expect: fresh bread, lots of toppings, sauces, cheese and most of the meats you would find anywhere else. They have yet to get permission to import turkey, so sorry for all you turkey lovers. Not all of the sauces are available yet either. The manager informed us that it may just take some time to gage the success of the shop and then get the permission needed to import the rest of the goods.

All I can say was my roasted chicken sandwich fixed the way I wanted was awesome. For a moment it felt like I was back in the states.

Mogambo Bar & Grill

For a period of time I was on the search for Saigon's best burger. Someone suggested this place. I sat down, ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger and asked for a side of BBQ sauce (my weakness) which they make fresh. You may have to ask them for a side of their "rib sauce" if they don't understand what you mean. I have to say... this burger really exceeded my expectations. They use really premium New Zealand beef here and it was DE-licious!

Mogambo has been opened since 1994 and has a steady stream of "regulars" that frequent the place. They have a pretty extensive menu that features Western, Vietnamese and Tex-Mex varieties. To be honest I have yet to try their Tex-Mex menu. I really want to though because I hear it's fabulous. I always seem to just order their burger because it was so dang good.

I can honestly say that Mogambo is one of my favorite finds in Saigon. Their burgers almost seem to just melt in your mouth. If their food didn't already do it, their safari motif makes the place stand out and hard to forget... so go check it out!

Au Parc

23 Han Thuyen, District 1
Telephone: 3829 2772
Open  Monday - Saturday 7:30 - 22:30 and Sunday 8:00 - 17:00

Au Parc is a three-level Mediterranean cafe/restaurant that also features delivery and catering. It's located near the Reunification Palace and Notre Dame Cathedral in downtown District 1. This is one of the few restaurants I know of that also features a kid's menu.

The kid's menu features favorites like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to spaghetti bolognese. We happened to have a kiddo with us when we visited who ordered the spaghetti. I have to admit that it was pretty good and it only cost 50,000 VND which went well with her 25,000 VND banana and yogurt smoothie.

We ordered the Beef Kebabs in garlic, cumin & ginger marinade (180,000 VND), Toasted ham, cheddar cheese & tomato wrap (79,000 VND), Passion fruit, honey & coconut smoothie (55,000 VND), Mango, passion fruit & pineapple smoothie (50,000 VND) and a Dark Chocolate Mousse (55,000 VND).

We were very satisfied with the food. The steak for the kebab was cooked to perfection and it came with a delicious cucumber-yogurt sauce, chopped veggies and fries. I enjoyed my meal and the chocolate mousse. My smoothie was pretty good too, but I thought the smoothie with the coconut that I didn't order was better. It was really very good.

We give this restaurant our thumbs up as a great place to stop by in the city. Whether it's to sit down and cool yourself off by having a smoothie or to bring the family by for a meal. Their fairly large menu should have something to please anyone.
